Senior Programmer/Developer- Database Focus ( Job Number:  157699) Description   We are recruiting for a Senior Programmer/Developer- Database Focus to join our Information Systems Team in Louisville, Kentucky.   The Kindred Clinical Systems Development team is looking for the right software engineer to join the tight-knit, award-winning team of developers in a multi-application, multi-language environment where creativity and dedication are appreciated and rewarded.    Our Environment: Our team supports the hospital division (121 hospitals), developing and enhancing several applications running in multiple environments.  We have a fast paced, fun environment and are looking for team members who can join the team, contributing their knowledge gained through past experiences and ready to learn new and exciting things with us.  We believe in providing creative technical solutions for our users, working hard and having fun.   Essential Functions: Partner with our developers in the design and development of data-rich applications. Assist in all stages of application development, from conception through development to testing and optimization, as part of the development team. Design, develop and enhance the clinical application database layer for multiple applications, and interactions between applications. Use modern database technologies, platforms, and trends to provide the best solutions for new and existing applications. Use existing and emerging tools to help in the advancement of data mining and predictive analytics activities. Participate/lead in the development of best practices in design for our application space. Work with confidential information in the healthcare space.     Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Effective and clear written and verbal communication - the ability to communicate complex thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner. Experience working directly with end users. Ability to multi-task, working on multiple projects and/or provide ongoing enhancements and support to existing applications. Qualifications   Bachelors Degree in CS, Engineering, Math, etc. or equivalent work experience in the technical arena. 5+ years in a software developer role. OO Development experience, with a willingness to work both in and out of the “database” world. Extensive work with varying database platforms (focus on MS SQL), especially working with large data sets. Capability to perform data architecture, testing, and optimization. Understanding of analytics, modeling, and the tools to work in the BI world.
